By detailing the task characteristics, process description, specific case study as well as the overview of this translation practice, this report analyzes the translation process of the American best seller Animation: The Whole Story (Part Ⅲ).When translating animation tutorials, the target language text should be simple and clear with the information of the source text fully conveyed. In the regard of literary form, according to our usual ways of processing technical texts, the translation of animation tutorials should mainly resort to literal translation so that the target language text readers can efficiently comprehend the information. The translator of the book Animation:A Whole Story takes Part Ⅲ as an example, with a careful comparison of the source text and the target text, gives an analysis of the translation skills as well as the problems and difficulties that had arisen in the translation process. The translator mainly introduces the source text being discussed, the translation of each chapter title, proper names in the book, some difficult sentences and paragraphs as well as readjusting the clues in the context. The translator’s hard work lays a foundation not only for future translation practice but also for the study of translation theories. This report showcases a deep reflection of the translation process: Before doing technical tutorial translation, the translator should have a comprehensive knowledge of the related fields before undertaking a thorough study of the source text. Only in this way can we faithfully translate the obscure information into the target language so that an ordinary reader is able to understand it. The target language should be translated smoothly in a way that faithfully conforms to the rules of the target language. The translation of the tutorial should achieve perfect cohesion and smoothness avoiding logical confusion and stiffness.
