What’s more, it was broadcast in84stations at the same time. Oral history which is a new form of documentary has aroused people’s wide concern. In2011, My Anti-Japanese War II and the animated version were launched consecutively. They triggered heated discussion in the audience once again. The paper takes the My Anti-Japanese War for example to analyzing the historical narrative features and the value in oral historical documentary based on the new historicism theory and narrative theory.The paper is divided into five parts. The introduction part deals with the purpose, current situation and ways of the study.Chapter one briefly summarizes the new historicism theory and oral history documentary. When talking about the oral historical documentary based on the new historicism, the thesis considers that historical documentaries are the text of history and points out that new changes have taken place in the oral historical documentary.The second chapter is the focus of this paper. Exemplified by My Anti-Japanese War, this paper analyzes the new historical narrative characteristics which from the three aspects of the narrative concept, narrative perspective and narrative strategy. The new characteristics are the fusion narrative concept of elite culture and popular culture; personal narrative perspective and the transformation of different narrative perspective; changeable narrative structure, dramatic conflicts, the setting of suspense and the displaying of details.The main content of chapter3is to explore the documentary value and to make a reflection. My Anti-Japanese War achieves that the "Histories" amends the "History" and "Personal History" writes up the "Social History". There are drawbacks in the documentary. The drawbacks are mainly about two aspects:firstly, oral history is hard to avoiding the memory bias which will damage the truth of history; secondly, the documentary entertainment weakens the force of historical reflection.The conclusion part affirms the positive value of My Anti-Japanese War. It shows the history responsibility of medium. The problems that the documentary producers need to pay attention to are how to present the history and how to increase the reflection of documentary. The development of oral historical documentary needs the joint efforts of many people and proactive expansion.
