| Regional dialect as the carrier of culture is concerned by many writers, such as Shen Congwen, Lao She, Zhou Libo, Han Shaogong, He Dun, Sun Li and Mo Yan and so on. They use lots of dialects in the works. The phenomenon that dialects exist in works of writers is attracted by linguists, folklorists, literary scholars and other areas of researchers. Although results are rich, the phenomenon of current studies is rather narrow and not comprehensive. In the paper, in order to observe sufficiently, describe adequately and explain fully, we make the phenomenon of Shen Congwen’s folk dialect in the novels as research subjects by the theory of literature and dialectology. The paper consists of five parts.First, it introduces the life and works of Shen Congwen, research status of dialect phenomena in works. Besides, it explains the research content, methods and meaning, etc.Second, in order to understand the dialect phenomenon of Shen Congwen folk novels as a whole, it investigates the overall situation of using dialects. It explores motivation, history, presenting features and presentation of using dialects elements in Shen Congwen’s writing process.Third, it analyzes performance capabilities of dialects in Shen Congwen’s folk novels. This section selects relatively outstanding folk novels of Shen Congwen as research subjects, focusing on analysis of texts in the vernacular term, verbs, adjectives, dialect metaphor, sayings and songs. It explores cases and performance capabilities of dialects using in Shen Congwen’s folk novels.Fourth, it analyzes the xiangxi world of Bian Cheng from the dialect perspective. This part selectes Bian Cheng of Shen Congwen as the object of study, focusing on writing success from folk style, folkways, and characters.Fifth, the article summarizes the main ideas and innovation, makes reflection on the dialect use in the Shen Congwen’s folk novels and points out shortcomings of this study as well as the issue continues to be studied. |
