Shen Congwen excavated the lyrical and romantic authentic humanity and local emotions according to his own understanding and cognition,and continued the creative posture of the Ming Dynasty’s spiritual literature that expresses the spirit alone and does not adhere to the rules.He believes that novels are not rigid literary expressions,but human affairs that are properly recorded in words,including social phenomena and dream phenomena.The former is mainly to improve the social mission of the novel,and the latter is a poetic and lyrical narrative method.Adhering to this creative concept,a large number of dream descriptions and dream narratives have appeared in Shen Congwen’s novels.The author uses "dreams" to reconstruct nature and human affairs,and pours abundant emotions into the mysterious and unique dream images."Dream" has become the standard of narrative style.Outstanding characteristics are the inner driving force of artistic creation.Poetry and romance are inseparable from the "dream",which has made extraordinary contributions to the perfection of the content and structure of the novel.The appearance of "Dream" is Shen Congwen’s obscure thinking about the life forms and living conditions of the closed world in Xiangxi,reflecting his understanding and cognition of the predicament of fate and the pursuit of ideals.This article attempts to analyze the literary ideals,the artistic characteristics of the dreams,the functions of the dreams,and the reasons for writing the dreams in the novels from the perspective of the "dreams" in Shen Congwen’s novels.And impact.Through the refining and integration of Shen Congwen’s novels,this paper systematically explores the phenomenon of his "dream",thus focusing on Shen Congwen’s thinking on survival,life,and destiny.Combined with the change of Shen Congwen’s creative mentality,he returns to the specific social and cultural context,explores the author’s literary ideals carried by "dreams",and makes new observations and examinations of the phenomenon of "dreams" that have been obscured in the research boom of Shen Congwen’s novels.This article is composed of three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction part combs the research purpose,research significance,research status and existing shortcomings of "dream" writing in Shen Congwen’s novels,research innovation and the definition of research objects.The purpose and significance of the research are the discussion of the research value of this article.It focuses on Shen Congwen’s views on "dreams",and separately elaborates Shen Congwen’s understanding of the relationship between writers and "dreams" and the relationship between novels and "dreams."
