With the arrival of the era of digital media, there are more than thirty million digital images captured and propagated every day; these images appear in every kind of social activities and art forms. With statistical data and personal experience, it shows that we have indeed entered the era of visual culture centered by images. Photography also spread itself along with this flood of digital media to every corner of the world. The visual graphics in Graphic Design needs to rely on photographic technique in many places, photography as a form of print ads is an important means to advertise products. Photography as an illustrative expression, provides the image for print ads, intuitive graphical elements and it shows the authenticity of things themselves; it is beneficial for connecting the consumer to the advertisement. It will bring people desire and dreams, where photographic is usage is enhanced to the maximum in print ads.This paper focus on the basis of photographic applications in graphic design, starts from the photographic print ads in practice; and then explores the advantage of photography in graphic design and its production process. The application of digital photography in print ads is analyzed and summarized, with the current advertising examples, so a better theory is provided to effectively combine graphic design and photography.
