A Study On The Editorials Od The Global Times On The Domestic Issues

As the most controversial newspaper in China, Global Times has always beencriticized for its international report of great nationalism. In recent years, it hasgradually extended its report into the inward, and launched editorial columns inMarch,2009. Under the present history background of rapid social transition, socialstratum contradictions has become more and more conspicuous, and the public areeager to see the social change. However, Global Times has repeatedly made strangecomments with regardless of the truth and just in favor of the authorities. Its behaviorto maintain the current political system and the report character of confusing thepublic have attracted strong critics from the public.Based on the comments on news in China from April in2009to March in2014,this paper foster researches from the perspective of the choice of topics andconclusion, and focuses its attention on the implied value tendency behind theseremarks. Having analyzed the character of choice of topics and conducted thediscourse analysis of the content, the author sorts out the core idea “with the nationalinterest first and comments-oriented first”, and the political outlook of contributing tothe gradual transform. On this basis, the author analyzes the deep social reasonsbehind the critics to Global Times, and conclude the outer reason that social conflictduring social transition is very coconscious, and the political identity from the publicis seriously missing.
