Since the20th century, the rapid deterioration of the global environment is a serious threat to the survival and continued development of mankind. Facing a serious ecological crisis, more and more writers begin to focus on ecological issues.They add ecological awareness into their literary work consciously and criticize the negative factors which were brought by modern civilization. At the same time when they expressing their self-introspection and worries for the deteriorating ecological environment, through the positive description and praise of natural beauty, or negatively display the terrible ecological consequences brought by the conflict between mankind and nature,to evoke goodness and beauty of human nature and sense of crisis of human existence,so as to awaken people’s awareness of ecological protection and ecological moral conscience. Zhang Wei is the representative one among those contemporary ecological writers in China.This paper throughout Zhang Wei’s thirty years’experience of literary work, combining his novels and proses, penetrating from the ecological perspective, applying relevant theories and methods of ecological criticism to analyse the ecological thoughts in Zhang Wei’s novels. According to the method that divide the ecology into natural ecology, social ecology, spiritual ecology which was devided by Chinese ecological literary critic named Lu Shuyuan, by singing the praises of nature,critiquing and reflecting the social present situation which is filled with chaotic social ecology and imbalanced spiritual ecology in second, third and fourth chapters, analying and presenting the ecological thoughts which are consisted of "harmony between man and nature",which is constructed by Zhang Wei in his novels;"Sense of place",which is constituted of "homeland feelings" and "home sense of urgency" and by the way "go into the wild" to find true spiritual home, ultimately achieve harmony between man and their own lives from natural, social, spiritual three levels.Finally, from two aspects:"Utopia" type of ideal and tragic dimension of the ecological literature, attitude towards "modern civilization" and "traditional civilization",thinking and expounding the inevitable conflicts that presented when Zhang Wei’s idealized self-salvation——"back to native civilization " meet with developing social reality.
