The cultural policies are always serving as a vital element composing the foreign policies of a nation. Under the background of economic and cultural globalization, the cultural diplomacy has gradually turned into an essential diplomatic form for the nations and regions, besides the traditional forms including economic diplomacy, political diplomacy as well as military diplomacy. The current trends are requiring different cultures to fully utilize their own characteristics to set up the unique nation image, via the methods of foreign cultural exchanges and trades, so as to raise the soft power of a nation, as well as to build up the reputation of a country.The Great Britain is the first country to have realized the industrialization and political transformation. The scientific inventions and classic theories have, to a large extent, enriched the human knowledge. It is especially impressive that the Great Britain is the most famous Cultural&Creative Industrial Emperor, for the concept of Creative Industry was first raised by the British scholars.This thesis is an analysis of the British Cultural&Creative Industry, aiming to present the cultural diplomacy functions of this industry through the examples and introductions of the Great Britain in the areas of cultural development. Those histrory stories as well as cultural policies put forward by the British governments have effectively improve the nation image and soft power of the country, which would also set up models for our nation to learn from.This thesis is to provide example analysis from the three factors including British Cultural Administrations, British Movie Industry and British Building-up the City Culture, so as to introduce how the British government has improved the nation image and enhance the country’s soft power, as well as to operate the cultural diplomacy functions via the methods of cultivating the cultural and creative industry.This thesis is also trying to present the differences and gaps of the same area between the Great Britain and China, so as to put forward some effective methods for the Chinese nation to develop its cultural diplomacy policies, as well as the cultural developments, the nation image and its soft power.
