In the developmental process of Chinese zither, current music creationwitnesses the trend of diversification. However, great attention paid to the playingskills by composers doesn’t overshadow the highlight of music itself. As one of newgeneration composers in the21th century, Mr. Tao Yimo created a unique romanticmusic style by combining the concept of freehand creation in Chinese ink paintingwith modern showmanship and appropriate application of western musical elements.This thesis focuses on the analysis of the melody "Waving Water Ripples", one of themagnum opus among Mr. Tao’s as well as a classic piece of music for skills trainingand stage performance. The author manages to interpret this piece of music in termsof musical expression and cultural connotations in a deep level by connecting her owntheoretical and practical experience from perspectives of creation features, playingtechniques and emotional performance. With the in-depth analysis, the author hopesto read Mr. Tao’s creation intention accurately and help more zither players tounderstand and grasp the composer’s musical style in an accurate way as well as makethis piece of music widely spread. |
