As required by the school for the2011graduates, the author conducts thefollowing research into the achievements made by Professor Lu Jinshan, my tutor, inperforming styles of the bamboo flute and Ocarina. The research is done by listeningto his lectures, recording interviews, watching his students’ performances, and readingrelated documents. Through Professor Lu’s music al works, papers and CDs, I amamazed at his innovative ideas and high status in Chinese folk music. As one of thefirst batch of academic performers after the establishment of the People’s Republic ofChina in1949, Professor Lu is the pioneer in diversifying the Chinese modernbamboo flute and ocarina performing styles, and in enriching the themes of the works. His achievements provide later generations with reference and shortcuts in learningtraditional Chinese music. Professor Lu has made tremendous contributions inmultiple fields, but as a student of him, the author only studies the artistic features ofProfessor Lu’s bamboo flute and ocarina performing styles due to limited knowledgeand academic achievements. |
