Dong drum-tower is the center of regional political, cultural and entertainment. Being an important part of Dong culture, it manifests the uniqueness of Dong culture and nationality everywhere. The adornment symbol of the drum tower is created by Dong people according to the daily life situations and at the same time these symbols play an important role in People’s Daily life. E-Cassirer points out "the human being was a variety of animal symbolicum; the man created the symbol and meanwhile created the human being himself by means of symbol". The connotation of Dong drum-tower decorative symbol can be interpreted as the case of relationship between symbol and people, so it is the starting point to analyze the drum tower decoration symbols. Through the analysis of the drum tower decoration symbols and its cultural connotation, I found that drum-tower decorative symbols are connected with Dong ethnic specific natural humanities environment, and it is the creative production of people. Meanwhile, symbols are used in the Dong People’s daily life, and have an important influence on people’s behavior, body and mind, and promote the individual socialization. It fulfills the theory basis "the man created the symbol and meanwhile created the human being by means of the symbol". The inheritance of drum-tower decoration symbols is a kind of subtle and receiving process. In the process, the education behavior is implemented and deployed. It reflects the relationship between symbols and education. However, under the impact of the modern society, the function of the drum tower is weak. Dong drum-tower symbol faces challenges of the survival and development, and the function of cultural inheritance is also in crisis. Based on the above thinking, we need to analyze the drum-tower decoration symbols such as living environment, cultural connotation, functional in order to find out the relationship between human and symbols and the ways for better survival and development.As an example of adornment of the symbols of Dong drum-tower, the essay adopts a combination of literature research, depth interview and participant observation to interpret and analyze the production of decorative symbols and cultural connotation. By this study, we can find that:firstly, drum symbol is created by Dong people according to the situation of daily life and it reflects the spirit of the Dong people, temperament, ideas and thoughts. So it is the summary of the dong people’s wisdom and experience, and has important value for learning local knowledge. Secondly, when the drum-tower symbol is generated, its symbolic function plays important role in the Dong People’s daily life. Dong culture which drum-tower symbols represent is taught to the members and the function is spread in order to promote the socialization of individuals. Thirdly, we can’t ignore the problem of the survival and inheritance of drum-tower. With the impact of modern culture, unique Dong culture faces challenges. If the decorative symbols of Dong culture pass on passively, they would have faced the crisis of loss. In order to make the adornment of the drum-tower symbol continue to exist and develop, we need to start from decorative symbol itself. On the one hand, we allow it to innovate itself and have combination with modern culture, on the other hand also Dong people should pay attention to their culture to increase its development.It is a new attempt to research Dong drum-tower that we interpret Dong drum-tower decorative symbols from the perspective of semiotics. This essay also has insufficient analysis due to my knowledge. I hope their research will provide a new research angle for the research of Dong drum-tower.
