The Mongolian image in French literature is not only the product of social imagination,but also is the oriental exotic images that shaped by writers and authors with their reading experience.This exotic images are influenced by the different periods of French cultural and the reader’s reading expectation.Except fiction, imagination and illusion,The Mongolian image in French literature also shows the authentic ingredients. Analyzing the description of the Mongolia images in French literature,we can find that,the existence of the Mongolia images meets the writer’s exotic expectations in some ways.This paper applies image study theory in comparative literature as well as other theories to discuss the Mongolian image in French literature. The Journey of William ofRubruk to the Eastern Parts、Grand Orphan in Song Dynasty of China、The Blue Banner and The Mongolia Wolf are four main works, the author analyse this four works by the time sequence, and try to interpret the Mongolian image in different periods of history, different literary genres,different writers and different social culture, compare and analyse the similarities and differences,explain and interpret the the Mongolia images,so as to do some preliminary exploration and research about the Mongolian image in French literature with the theory of imagologie study.
