Study On The Mogu Manner And Its Inspiration And Practice On Personal Creation

From ancient times, the painting technique “Mogu manner” is defined between finebrushwork and freehand brushwork, also it is an indispensable part in Chinese traditionalpainting, although relatively weak in the development of contemporary Chinese painting, ithas been kept on evaluating and develops independently.The Mogu manner simply means without using the ink line to draw the outline of anobject, only use color and ink to express the image of a painting. This emphasizes the colorand ink block, makes them as the main form of expression while weakens the lines’restriction to the outlines. It is said that Mogu techniques was created by Zhang Sengyao inthe Southern Dynasties, which reached a first popular time in the Northern Song Dynastyfor Xu Chongsi and his Mogu flower-and-bird paintings, later, this painting style becamesilent for a period of time, after that, on the basis of predecessors’ painting techniques, afamous painter Yun Nantian from Qing Dynasty broke the old pattern of Mogu painting,and pushed the painting technique to a new glory.In the development of Mogu techniques, the reform of figure paintings reflected themodern Chinese painters’ unique wisdom level and spiritual needs, it inherit and relate tothe traditional painting; it is also the influenced by western painting, whose form is theresult of combination with Chinese traditional culture, Mogu painting is quite differentfrom the western painting that contains Chinese painting elements, it is tally with themodern times.Mogu manners has a great influence on my painting study and creation, it is a newkind of drawing style, maybe I cannot make a great contribution on Mogu Painting, but Iwill spare no effort on researching and creating, because it is worthy of my heart.
