With the rise of the research on Cognitive Psychology, the stereotype has always beenone of the focuses of the Social Psychology and the research on stereotype became moreand more deeply. In the population aging process of China,the special policy of populationand the rapid development of medical and health undertakings and related system in theinterests of the elderly security also triggered some social phenomenon, which is causingthe attention of people.This essay adopts the questionnaire survey and the experimental research methods toexplore the existence and variability of university students’ Elderly stereotype on thepremise of no contrast target.81university students participated in the research and theresult shows:(1) The explicit evaluation for the old people is generally positive. There have noeffects on gender, education, subject and birthplace of the students’ explicit elderlystereotype. However the elders’ health is, the students’ explicit elderly stereotype have noobvious difference. There’s significant difference on the students’ explicit elderlystereotype when the extent of the students’contact with the olds is various.(2) The implicit evaluation for the old people is generally neutral. There have noeffects on gender, education, subject and birthplace of the students’ implicit elderlystereotype. When the olds have different abilities of daily living, the students’ implicitelderly stereotypes have significant difference. There’s no significant difference on thestudents’ implicit elderly stereotype when the extent of the students’ contact with the oldsis various.(3) The counterstereotype materials have no significant effect on the students’implicitelderly stereotype. The characters of olds have no significant effect on the intervention ofthe counterstereotype materials. The extent of the contact with olds has no significanteffect on the intervention of the counterstereotype materials.
