The essay will focus on the usual adverbs in Chinese language, includingadverbs of time, adverbs of degree, adverbs of negation, adverbs of sphere andfrequency adverbs. The main purpose is to examine the influence of thecorresponding words in the mother tongue for Vietnamese students, considered as apremise for studying The Negative Transfer in Second Language.The scopes of study are students of Jilin University, Xiamen University, LigongUniversity as well as Ha Noi University, University of Languages and InternationalStudies, Thai Nguyen University and Foreign Trade University. The primary methodused in the essay is Comparison and Analysis, Questionnaire (Investigation),Statistics, Error analysis... The content is mainly presented in Chapter3and chapter4.Chapter3primarily focuses on Negative Transfer of Adverbs in mother tongueinto equivalents in Chinese of Vietnamese students. They are adverbs of time such as“yijing, yi, cengjing, ceng, dou, jiu, yeyi”...; adverbs of degree “hen, feichang, shifen,guo, guoyu, tai, tebie”...; adverbs of sphere “dou, quan, zhi, jiu, jing, jinjin”...;adverbs of frequency “changchang, tongchang, jingchang, you, zai”…; and adverbsof negative such as “bu” và “mei”.Nextly, these adverbs are compared with corresponding words in nativelanguage to find out the equivalents. Finally, the essay studies the influence of theadverbs in their mother tongue for Vietnamese students, and shows the commonmistake that students often make while learning Chinese and also the reasons of it.These types of mistakes are usually included sememe negative transfer, semantic domain negative transfer and semantic feature negative transfer, word positionnegative transfer, combining object negative transfer....Chapter4mainly studies the motives of the negative transfer of native adverbs(Vietnamese adverbs) into Chinese equivalents, including the negative transfer fromMarked to Unmarked, multiple objects to singular objects, wide scope to narrowscope of use. According to survey results, the negative transfer of adverbs frommother tongue to Chinese comply with a direction, that is from "yes" to "no","more"to "less" and "wide" to "narrow".The sole purpose of the essay is to study the mistakes that students make whenlearning Chinese adverbs, the reason of these mistakes, role of the comparative wordsin mother tongue? The types and motives of the negative transfer? Which stage dostudents often make mistakes? Hopefully this essay will help Vietnamese duringstudying Chinese.
