While great achievements have propped up not only in the studies of Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) and its model, but among the diversified translation evaluation standards of Chinese poetry throughout its transmission history, there is very rare studies on the independent and comprehensive TQA model/system specific to Chinese poetry. With reference to Functional Linguistic TQA Model (Si,2007) and Poetry TQA Model in Systemic-Functional Linguistics approach (Hu,2009), considering the differences between Chinese and English languages and cultures with the peculiarities of Chinese language, on the theoretical foundations of Grammatical Metaphor. Text Typology, Artistic Conception Aesthetics of Chinese Poetry, from hierarchical perspectives of Micro-level, Middle-level and Macro-level, via qualitative and quantitative study, this study constructs a novel Tri-M-Hierarchical Model specialized in TQA of Chinese Poetry (TMH Model for CPTQA), aiming at solving the problems respectively at three levels:(1) at Micro-level, the status and role of Textual Meaning in preliminary assessment;(2) at Middle-level, the applicability and efficiency of Grammatical Metaphors for further assessment;(3) at Macro-level, the leading roles of Text Typology and Aesthetics of Chinese Poetry towards overall quality assessment. To verify the applicability, reliability and validity of TMH Model for CPTQA, this study chooses a typical Tang poem Untitled by Li Shangyin with a translation by Xu (2010:263) for case study, obtaining the assessment result that the translated is almost faithful to the original. In conclusion of its theoretical, methodological and practical contributions, the significance of this study lies in that:it injects new theoretical basis into TQA as well as creatively bringing in middle-level to construct a tri-hierarchical model; it makes improvements to the translation quality of Chinese poetry and to the transmission of Chinese culture, particularly Chinese poetic culture.
