The anti-Christian movement of Lubei’s rural society is the microcosm of the anti-Christian movement in Shandong. Different social classes including officers, squires and townspeople participate in it. Not only does it reflect the current religious problems and external relations, but also it has an important effect on the formation of Boxer Movement’s source. Due to little attention and few achievements, therefore, I select this thesis as the research subject.The introduction mainly introduce the significance of the research subject selected, the current domestic and international situation on the anti-Christian movement’s research, the investigative ideas and methods about the thesis, as well as the innovation topics. In addition, several concepts involved in the thesis are defined.The first chapter shows the social development situation and operating mode of Lubei’s rural society before the swarmed arrival of foreign religions with the help of the real and effective charts, which are described from changes of regional elements, organizational forms of Clan Village, patriarchal ethics, etc. Simultaneously, it also relates the activities of foreign religions under the policy of religious restrictions, as well as the relationship between people and foreign religions.The second chapter describes the situation that missionaries squeeze into the Lubei’s rural society after gaining privileges of preach and leasehold freely. Compared with Catholicism, protestant activities are very different in Lubei’s region. It also discusses the foreign religions’impacts on traditional basic society from the structure of power, Farming economy and cultural ethics.The third chapter mainly writes that local officers, squires and townspeople make different responses on foreign religions in order to maintain the stability of the patriarchal structure of power, avoid being deprived of own vital economic interests, defend the orthodox culture.The fourth chapter mainly makes an objective assessment to the anti-Christian movement of Lubei’s rural society from positive significance and limitations, expound the influence of anti-Christian movement to the Lubei’s religious development.
