The teaching materials have a vital role in TCFL,for it covers all of the basic points that the course need to be mastered,and makes a rule of the basic contents of daily teaching.The quality of Chinese teaching materials directly affects the teaching results.The Chinese listening and speaking class is one of the main courses for international students in their early stages of learning Chinese. It stresses the training of the Chinese listening and speaking skills and plays an irreplaceable role on the cultivation of students’communicative competence. The Building Chinese Language through Listening and Speaking written by the teachers of the Central China Normal University,is the latest Chinese listening and speaking textbook and it has many unique attributes in the writing principles structure, text selection and so on. This paper, taking it as the research object, will analyze the text, new words, notes, exercises and so on, and combined with the actual situation of the teaching material use, through the questionnaire survey methods do a deep research.The paper, besides the introduction and conclusion, is mainly divided into the following six parts. Firstly, with the teaching material and the structure, this paper will analyze the content and structure, the purpose and principle of the textbook. Secondly, in the analysis of the definition on the new words, the chapter is explained from the aspects of vocabulary control, arrangement of the new words list and the words’explanation, with emphasis on analysis of the words’ explanation.Thirdly, in the analysis of the contents of the teaching material,it analyzes the select of the subject of texts and the language materials and put forward some recommendations to the text writing. Fourthly,we mainly take about the selection of the notes and the presentation of the notes.The fifth part of the essay first looks into the exercises of the textbook by the amount, followed by comments on listening and speaking exercises respectively.Finally, in this part of the paper, we investigate the teachers of preparatory course in our school, in order to get more information about the actual use of the textbook.I hope to do some exploration that is helpful and useful for the revision of this book in the future,likewise for the compilation of the other listening and speaking textbooks.
