The Image Criticism Of Xie Zhen’s Poetry Criticism

’Image criticism’is a critical method with strong ethnic characteristics in ancient Chinese critic classics. Siming poetry talks, the poetry works of Xie Zhen, which contains rich and profound poetics thought, has unique value and significance in the history of Chinese literature criticism. In Siming poetry talks, Xie Zhen utilized metaphor as the main form to manifest the poetic characteristics in criticize style, mode of discourse, language style, etc. When beginning to write this essay. This thesis puts’image criticism’as a breakthrough point as well as the object of study, and starts from the raw materials to discuss Xie Zhen’s poetry theory and the historical evolution of literary criticism method in China.This essay can be divided into four parts. The first chapter summarizes Xie Zhen’s poetry theory and the method of criticism briefly, has carried on the definition about’image criticism’, analyzes the Cultural origin and Ideological basis of image criticism briefly, and evaluates the role which’image criticism’played in the history of literary criticism method in China.The second,third and fourth chapter are the main contents of this essay. The second chapter is’the basic content of Xie’s image criticism’. A large number of specific examples are taken from Siming poetry talks and analyzed which XieZhen applied image criticism into a wide range, includes expressing subjective perspective, writing methods, aesthetic standards, and poetry appreciation.The third chapter is ’the characteristics of Xie’s image criticism’.Through the analysis of the specific examples of the original work, this thesis illustrates the form characteristics of Xie’s image criticism mainly in several aspects,namely, the various reasoning methods, creative way of illustration and diversified application.The fourth chapter is ’the value judgment of Xie’s image criticism’. This chapter mainly makes a research of three aspects,to be first, the succession of Xie’ poetry image criticism to the predecessors, secondly, the role and status that image criticism plays in Xie’s poetry criticism, and thirdly,the modern enlightenment from this research. This thesis tries to make a relatively fair and scientific evaluation of Xie’s poetry criticism theory as well as his poetry criticism method,and hopes to provide some reference for contemporary literary criticism practice.
