On Hu Shi 's Literary Criticism

As one of the main advocate for New Culture Movement, Hu Shih have madean indelible contribution for the construction of Chinese New Literature, his literarycriticism activities play a considerable role for new literature.The object of this paper is Hu Shih’s view of literary criticism. This paperfocuses on sorting out the creation of Hu Shih’s literary criticism and the connotationof Hu Shih’s literary criticism on the basis of the results of previous studies. Andthrough the practice of Hu Shih’s literary criticism we can analyze the actual valueof the criticism view.The introduction part mainly introduces the research status of Hu Shih’s literarycriticism view, the methods and significance of the paper. Besides the introductionand conclusion, this article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is to explore the causes of the formation of Hu Shih’s conceptof literary criticism, mainly combining with Hu Shih’s family experience, theinfiltration of traditional culture, the influence of western culture and era backgroundwhich give his mission to explore the origin of Hu Shih’s literary criticism viewformation.The second chapter introduces the connotation of Hu Shih’s concept of literarycriticism, mainly including vernacular literature, theory of the literary conception ofhistory and realism standard from three aspects.The third chapter focuses on Hu Shih’s practice of literary criticism, that is,through the concrete practice of the concept of literary criticism of poetry criticism,criticism of the novel, the practice of the practice and drama criticism practice.The fourth chapter analyzes the characteristic of Hu Shih’s literary criticismview through the concrete literary criticism practice of Hu Shih, summarizing thestyle of literary criticism of Hu Shih.
