As asocial-science text, it is written in formal language involving a wide range ofknowledge such as economics, politics and societies. There are many technical terms,abstract nouns, acronyms of institutions, names of persons and places. Besides, it useslong and complex sentences frequently. Since the translator intends to focus on thetarget readers, difficulties exist in translation expressions.The main contents of this report are divided into four parts: Part One is thetranslation project description, including background, objectives, significance and thestructure of the report. Part Two is an observation of the source text, with a briefintroduction about the author and the source text. Part Three is deemed as the mostimportant part of the translation report, which elaborates some difficulties met andmethods adopted in the translation process.
