With the developing of the construction of community culture, community education receives more and more attention. Being one important part of the community education, community music culture, with its elastic form and unique function, played an indispensable role. Meanwhile, the particularity of the music cultural activities in special communities in the community culture as a whole should not be ignored. It is necessary for prison, on the other hand, as a special community in our country where measures like combining punishment and reform, education and labor are carried out to the prisoners, to apply such a humanized education means as musical education to exert influence and transform them.Setting Wuhan Women’s Prison as the research object, this thesis compiles "the Questionnaire about the Music Cultural Activity in Wuhan Women’s Prison"from three dimensions(organization and management, operational process, effect and influence), including "new land art troupe" Volume and "non-new land art troupe" volume. Starting from subjects like music sociology, music education sociology and criminal psychology, this thesis analyzes the dynamic mechanism and interactive mechanism of the music cultural activity in Wuhan Women’s Prison. Finally, the writer combines theories like the aesthetic and moral education function of music together and makes a quantitative and qualitative analysis on the educational meaning of music culture activities in the reestablishment of prisoners’outlooks on life, on world and on value.Observed from the results, both non art troupe prisoners and art troupe prisoners show a strong need of music culture activities. Music awakens the conscience, renders the emotions and brings the prisoners the aesthetic enjoyment. However, due to the limits of prison’s special environment, the music culture activities there are underdeveloped. It is not hard to discover that prisoners’want of music roots from the constraint of the emotions. As a result, more attention shall be paid to the prisoners and their psychological changes during their sentence serving period.Observed from the effect of music culture activities, non art troupe prisoners’ favorite music activities include singing contest and variety show, while labor skills contests are the most often held activities of the prisons. Consequently, it is better for the prison police to have a better understanding of the prisoners and to formulate plans of music culture activities to conform the prisoners’moods. On the other hand, the art troupe prisoners are quite enriched and delightful in their spirits. They discover their values through the life in the art troupe, and they persist in turning over a new leaf after being released out of the prison.It is thus evident what music culture activities change is not only prisoners’ outlooks on life, on world and on value, but helps them willing to accept the transformation and smile to the setbacks in life. This is also where the educational meaning of the music culture activities in such a special community as prison lie.
