The Research Of Character Morpheme In Song And Yuan Dynasty

Character morpheme firstly appeared in Shuo Wen Zi Yuan written by Li Teng inTang Dynasty and specialized in researching on the radical of Shuo Wen Jie Zi.Then,the name of character morpheme has been used by later scholars in a long time,such as Lin Han’s Zi Yuan Pian Pang, Xiao Shuo Kao and Shi Mengying’s Pian PangZi Yuan. But these works were based on researching the radical of Shuowen instead ofthe true sense of character morpheme. The truly research of character morphemebegun in Song and Yuan Dynasty,as some scholars in this period had a originalunderstanding of this theory based on the evolution of Chinese characters, who hadbroken the limitations of the radical of Shuowen and created the Chinese morpheme,and played a very important role in the development of the Chinese morpheme.However, there are few studies about Chinese morpheme in academic which ought begiven enough attention for it’s a truely creation system of character morpheme. Thispaper aims to analyzing the theory of character morpheme in Song and Yuan Dynastybased on some scholars’ viewpoints in this period, such as Dai Tong and Zheng Qiao,and then, trying to summarize the characteristics and achievements in order tocontribute to the Chinese morpheme and the Chinese configuration.This paper is divided into five parts.Part1: Introduction. Firstly, the research status is described and the significancesand content in the research are cleared. Secondly, it analysis the definition andfunction of the radical and character morpheme. Then, summarizing the differencesand relations between them.Part2: The research of character morpheme in Zheng Qiao’s Liu Shu Lue. Firstly,analyzing the modification about the radical of Shuo Wen by Zheng Qiao. Secondly, ittries to elucidate Zheng Qiao’s viewpoint of character and discuss how to analyze thecharacter morpheme based on his theory of character and Liushu. At last, expoundinghis Wen Zi Zi Mu Shuo and the use of it to analyze character morpheme.Part3: The research of character morpheme in Dai Tong’s Liu Shu Gu. Firstly,analyzing the modification about the radical in Shuo Wen by Dai Tong. Secondly, it discusses his view about the relation of character, Liushu and Zimu. At last, this partelucidates Dai Tong’s breed system of character by Fuzisun association.Part4: The research of character morpheme in Zhou Boqi’s Shuo Wen Zi Yuan.Firstly, it analyzes the modify about the radical of Shuowen by Zhou Boqi. Secondly,it discusses how to using character and Liushu to analyze character morpheme. At last,it elucidates and discusses the layout about morpheme.Part5: Appraising the character morpheme in Song and Yuan Dynasty. This partevaluates the value and shortage of the research in this period and expounds itsinfluence to later scholars as well.
