This essay aims to do the research of Li Chengxiang and his poetry Dong CunAlbum. Li Chengxiang was a member of Shanzuo School and also was a famousLiuren poet in northeast in Qing dynasty. He was a mild, modest and prolific poetwho loved traveling and making friends. However, only thousand of his poetry wascollected into Dong Cun Album. The study of Li and his poetry helps to dig more intoShanzuo School and the contribution that Liuren poets in northeast in Qing dynastyhad made.This paper consists of introduction and other three parts:Chapter One proves Li’s family and his attitude to knowledge and being agovernment official in three aspects by the way of Mutual Reflection of Literature andHistory, comparative study and some others. Then, it probes into his tough life and hismindset change in this life. Finally, it proves his widely friends making and theevaluation that his friends made to his personality and his poetry. All of these are inorder to give more background information to the research of the content of his work,poetry theory and poetry feature.Chapter Two gives a thorough intensive reading to Dong Cun Album andanalysis its thoughts in different types: friends making poets, lyric poets, frontierpoets, traveling poets and history poets. Which is intended to expose his poetrydevelopment, ample expression and historical poetry method.Chapter Three summarizes Li Chengxiang’s poetry theory by the analysis ofhistory and the whole study in three aspects: hardship-chanting and emphasis onknowledge, realistic writing and inclusive writing. Then, it tries to analysis itsdifferent style and art skills under the influence of this poetry theory. This is hope topresent the creation and value in Li’s poetry creation.
