The Investigation Of Cadres Of Jiangsu Province In The1950s

In order to further purify the organization, the Central Committee of the CPC promulgated resolutions about the investigations of the cadres to have a systematic and comprehensive investigation of the new and old cadres on24th November,1953. The investigation in Jiangsu started from1954, and ended in1906. During the investigation period, with the arrival of the movement of eliminating the counter-revolutionaries, the rectification campaign and the movement of Anti-Rightist, the investigation drifted off the original purpose.This thesis is divided into three parts with the introduction and conclusion. While introducing the general conditions of the research about the investigation, which pointed out the significance and the shortcomings, this part also introduced the purpose of the thesis, problems to be solved and differences from the predecessors. Besides, the introduction briefs the research methods as well as the resources of this dissertation.The first part concentrates on the purges in Hunan-Kiangsi border, elimination of the AB Regiment and the Social Democratic Party as well as the Rectification Campaign before the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The aims of the movements was to purify the organization. After the founding of the PRC, investigation remains as the precious experience of the revolution. The ruling party tried to clean out the dissidents from the organization by the elimination in the inner circle, movement against three evils and Rectification Campaign. As they were busy with other businesses after the founding of PRC, CPC did not make a thorough investigation of the organization until1953.The second part concentrates on the investigation of the first batch of the cadres. During this period, the investigation was conducted with the elimination. The latter led to the slowdown of the investigation at the early stage. With the intervention of the central and local government, the investigation made some achievements. As to the treatment of the conclusions of the cadres, which is the most important of the investigation, the non-transparent investigation policy caused many misjudged cases. The phenomenon was changed after the adjustment of the policy.The third part concentrates on the process of the investigation of the second batch of the cadres and the Youth Corps. In addition, this part introduces the specific methods of the investigation and the management of the files of the cadres.Finally this thesis summarize the investigation in Jiangsu in the1950s, and present the author’s own reflections on the investigation.
