After the establishment of the villager autonomy system at theend of the1980’s, the Villagers Group that evolved from “productionteam” of the system of people’s commune is the most basic unit inthe rural society of China. However, in all rural system reformmeasures that the government took after abolishing agricultural tax,“combining the administrative villages and Villagers Groups witheach other” and “cancel the leader of Villagers Group” leddirectly to many Villagers Group either be abandoned or be paralyzed.As the most basic autonomous organization in rural governancesystem and as the most basic recognition and cooperation unit, thestatus and role of Villagers Group in the process of rural governanceare not to be underestimated and neglected. However, both thegovernment practice departments and intellectual circles lacked ofobjective understanding and research about the Villagers Group, sothat the status and role of Villagers Group in rural governance isoften be covered. If lacking of the Villagers Groups and the leaderof Villagers Group in rural governance, it is equivalent to cut offthe contact between the government/village organization and villagers, and then it will increase the difficulty of ruralgovernance and lead to the village public goods can not supply orsupplied by extremely low efficiency.This thesis will take Villagers Group as the research object andcarry on the detailed investigation on the status and role ofVillagers Group, and all these will be based on the investigationof C Village in Chongqing. This thesis includes five chapters. Thefirst chapter is the introduction part that introduces the researchobjects, research methods, research ideas, research framework, andreviews the related research about villagers group. The secondchapter analyzes the specific performances that the Villagers Groupshows in the process of the rural governance and the reasons of thesespecific performances. The third chapter analyzes the problem andreasons of villagers group by summarizing the changes of the statusand role of Villagers Group. The fourth chapter mainly discusses howto play the role of Villagers Group in the village governance. Thefifth chapter is the conclusion part that mainly summarizes and refines the thesis.
