This paper mainly discusses Habermas’s the criticism to the Historical Materialism ofMarx and theory of communication based on the reconstruction of HistoricalMaterialism.Habermas’s reconstruction penetrates a practice intention from beginning to end.He makes Historical Materialism becomes the real society and accords with the theory withnew perspectives on historical materialism reconstruction by splitting the combination way.On the other hand, he also reconstructs a set of his theory of communicative action to critiquethe nominal abandoned Historical Materialism in the process of rebuilding.First of all, I find the root of Habermas’s reconstruction of Historical Materialism.Habermas’s reconstruction of Historical Materialism is based on his social background of thedeep reflection and criticism on that time. I think about the evaluation for Habermas’sreconstruction. We must stick to dialectical perspective analysis. We must not all agree withhis point of view, but also should not ignore Habermas’s on the current capitalist societyproblems made by those of pathological diagnosis and theoretical generalization. We must notall agree with the Habermas’s deconstructive reading on Marx classic text, but also can notdeny that Habermas propose the epochal significance of new interpretation on the Marxdoctrine theory.
