| Social development is the heated topic concerned by scholars in recent years. It is a topic worth eternalconsideration as long as there is human society. In the age of fast development of science and technology,how to evaluate the criterion for social development? The confirmation of it will have a great effect onpromoting social stability, building a harmonious society and on a healthy development of society.In this thesis, the author analyzes the evaluation criterion and its enlightenment for our harmonioussociety through five parts. The first part approves that the evaluation criterion has already existed in ancienttime by the analysis of social development criterion in Chinese and Western histories, which from theConfucius,Lao-zi to Mo-tse and from the Ancient Greece and Rome period,middle age to modern times.The second part is the idea of Marx and Engels on the subject. It includes: one, Productivity is marxistfundamental measure for social progress; two, Person’s free and overall development is the highestmeasure of marxist basic criterion of social progress; three,Social progress is the integration of productivescale and human development scale. The third part is exploration of social development criterion in moderntime. Including: one, the exploration made by generations of the party’s core leadership, such as: MaoZedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao; two, the exploration of scholars. The forth part isthe enlightenment to building a harmonious society. It includes: one, the meaning of social developmentcriterion; two, the enlightenment to building a harmonious society. The fifth part is the construction ofsocial development criterion in modern time. It includes principles and system of social developmentcriterion in modern time.Through the above discussions and historical review of social developmentcriterion, the author points out the confirmation of criterion for social development has enlightening effecton building a harmonious society.The author made great discussions on the above proposition, although it is not thorough, even as alittle as "the tip of the iceberg", the author believes that information made in this paper has providedcertain theoretical basis. The author also expects that this research can do a little help to the study of building a harmonious society. |
