A Study On Cultural Life To Urban Construction Migrant Workers

Along with the continuous attention of migrant workers, migrant workers’ economic treatment has gradually improved, but the cultural life of rural migrant workers has not get corresponding development. Cultural life of migrant workers especially in the construction industry still lags behind. The problem of the construction work in the field of cultural life is getting seriously. Construction culture is in the edge of the city culture. By choosing Nanning City as survey sites, using a combination of questionnaire survey and case interview, depicts the cultural life of the status and characteristics of migrant workers in the construction industry in Nanning. And starting from the discipline background of sociology, this paper analyses the cause of cultural life present situation and characteristic of migrant workers in the construction industry. Construction culture is marginalized. On the one hand, the culture of construction workers rejected by the public culture, on the other hand, from the theory of social norms and internal cultural norms of the construction workers bound the cultural development of construction workers. Now, we see that the internal cultural norms of construction workers is self-enclosed, it should seek to fully understand the culture of construction workers to enhance their cultural self-development capabilities. The value orientation of the construction workers in the cultural life is also uncertain. Construction workers and their cultural is stigmatized. The stigma of urban public, in turn, becomes the propellant for construction workers to maintain stigma status. Inappropriate cultural values assessment, has become the standard for construction workers to maintain their cultural characteristics. It strengthens the uncertainty of the cultural of construction workers. Only by understanding the internal cultural norms of the construction workers and establish positive culture value, we can overcome the preconceived prejudices of construction culture. From the traditional construction worker culture which provides enough assistance outside, shift to identify construction culture characteristics and internal standard, develop their own cultural value. This paper presents suggestions on developing the level of construction worker cultures. The innovation is that from changing cultural plight of construction workers into the development of its cultural life.
