In recent years, China as a large exporting country has frequently given rise to trade frictions with other countries and often suffered anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, safeguard measures and other trade remedy measures adopted by the countries concerned. The trade frictions between EU as the first largest trade partner of China and China have increased continuously while volume of business is on the rise. Prior to2010, EU mainly adopted anti-dumping and had never adopted anti-subsidy measure during dealing with trade frictions with China. But since2010, EU has launched anti-subsidy investigation of China’s coated paper industry, which pulls open anti-subsidy investigation of China’s export industry by EU. Compared with China’s study on anti-dumping system of EU, Currently, China’s study on anti-subsidy system of EU is still in the initial stage. In order to protect China’s relevant export industry from being troubled by anti-subsidy measures of EU and learn advanced anti-subsidy system of EU, it is necessary to study EU anti-subsidy system in a comprehensive and deep way.Subsidy identification standard is the most important constituent part in anti-subsidy system and the key to judging whether the subsidy exists in anti-subsidy investigation and. This paper based on EU anti-subsidy system analyzes the cases involving subsidy identification standard which were coped with by EU and WTO to probe into several elements (including subsidy subject and form, profit confirmation and calculation as well as subsidy specificity) of EU subsidy identification standard through correlating the theory with practice in a bid to clarify specific application mode of subsidy identification standard in EU anti-subsidy system.The ultimate purpose of the study on EU subsidy identification standard is to make China’s relevant export industries effectively protect their own interests in trade contacts with EU and meanwhile to make China refer to EU legislative and juridical practices so as to reach the purpose of further improving China’s anti-subsidy system, adjusting China’s export subsidy policy and helping the government and relevant export industries formulate strategies to better cope with anti-subsidy litigations.
