A Study On The Integrity Of Government From A Philosophical Perspective

In recent years, with the rapid development of Chinese economy, various socialcontradictions and problems appeared. which shows the lacking of integrity of ourgovernment. Therefore, strengthening government integrity is imminent. In this case,it has a big significance to study the government integrity issues, and proposeappropriate measures to complete the policy and improve government integrity work.All of these can ensure economic development and social harmony.Government integrity refers to the government and her staff, as the agent of thepeople’s power, she must work on the interests of the people, and based on theprinciple of seeking truth from facts, meanwhile, keeping promise and practiceconventions should be the basic requirements of the political and ethical virtues,which is a subjective evaluation and value judgments of people to governmentcredibility, and also is the impact of government action and the government’s imagein the eyes of the people. Government Integrity requires our government must be ademocratic government, a law-abiding government, a credit government, aservice-oriented government, a limited government, a transparent government, aresponsible government and an uncorrupted government. Government Integrity isnecessary for the promotion of socialist economic construction, political construction,cultural construction, and social construction.Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, government integrity hasundergone a difficult and tortuous course of development. There are someachievements have been made from theoretical to practical level, but also someproblems such as promise couldn’t be fulfilled, false information, policy changes andother issues. There are a lot of factors about the emergence of these problems, withthe history and reality, external and internal, and many other reasons. To adhere thefollowing principles: people-oriented, to combine virtue and the rule of law， tostrengthen the government construction from inner and itself and external oversight.Government should strengthen the integrity from education, policy, supervision andother aspects.In this paper, the Marxist philosophy is the theoretical basis, the social contracttheory and the principal-agent theory supplemented. The author also defines the meaning of government integrity, and analyzes the problems and reasons appeared inthe construction of government integrity. At last, the author proposes some measuresto solve the problem.
