The importance of the stability is self-evident. Stability overwhelms everything. Social stability matters the rise and fall of a nation, it has always been the objective laws and experience of national security all over the world. Social stability is a major social and political issue, which is not only related to the people’s production and life, but also to the party’s ruling status and the country’s long-term stability.The characteristic of social transformation of the early days of the new China is obvious. At that time, various and intricate social problems emerged continuously, bringing enormous challenges to social stability. The Communist Party of China had led people of all nationalities to take a series of positive measures to tackle two different types of social stability problems and ultimately established a harmonious and stable social situation for China’s socialist modernization. This paper focused on the stability maintenance work of the early days of the new China of the Chinese Communist Party, surveyed historically the ways and measures, summarized their positive and negative experience, summed up its current stability work reality of enlightenment on this basis.The social stability problem of the early days of the new China can be divided into two categories:one is the antagonistic contradiction nature between the country itself and the enemy, while the other is the adversarial nature of the contradictions among the people. These two types of problems are different from each other, but both of them have great negative impacts on social production and people’s life. The causes of social stability problems are complex and can be resulted from many factors. Specifically, the destruction of the hostile forces is the primary factor, social conflicts of interest is the fundamental factor, bureaucracy and working methods are the key factor, the lack of ideological and political education is the thought factor, not suited to the social transformation is the era factor, the bias of the "Naruna, put" policy is the party factor, the influence and impact of international environment is the external factor. Taking those influencing factors into account, the party accordingly adopted two different solutions of dictatorship and democracy, overcame the party bureaucracy, developed the domestic economy, strengthened the legal system, the ideological and political education and other specific measures to achieve social stability. All of these are the experience of CPC’s stability maintenance work.Examine the CPC’s stability work in the early days of the new China and summarize its experience and lessons has certain reality of implications:to set up the correct view of social stability; to distinguish the two different types of social stability problems; to establish institutional mechanisms for effective stability maintenance; development is the most fundamental way of maintaining social stability; to strengthen the party’s construction; to reinforce the ideological and political work.
