Mao jia ping site is located in Panan Town, Gangu County, Gansu Province, situated in a second terrace besides the south bank of the Weihe River, which is the largest and the best be-preserved site of Qin culture in the range of Zhuyu Mountain. Mao jia ping site is divided into two portions named as the Eastern and Western District, bounded by a natural gully in the middle. The dwelling district is located in the north of the Western District, and the Graveyard is settled in the south of the Western District and the Eastern District.The research of this paper is based on the study of human being bone materials, in total of45individuals. The materials for use, dated from the spring and autumn to the warring states period, which is excavated from eastern district graveyard in Mao jia ping site between2012to2013. Rely on observation, measurement, and statistical methods, this paper has studied and analyzed the materials from the mount of demography, ethnology, pathological, meanwhile, the species source and flow direction of Mao jia ping residents has also been probed. In according to research record and analysis, the results indicated that, Mao jia ping residents were in a low level social and nutritional status, beard heavy works, the average life expectancy were also lower than other areas in the same period. In accordance with the skull scape, the Mao jia ping ancient residents belong to Mongolian race of Asia. To be specific, the residents have the most similar characteristics with East Asian Type of Mongolians in Asia. To compare with the modern sets of Mongolian race, Mao jia ping residents have similar characterisitics with the sets of Tibetan group A, group B and south China group.In order to probe the species source and flow direction of ancient Mao jia ping residents, this research has compared the local residents with the others Neolithic and Bronze Age group. As a result, Mao jia pin ancient residents have the similar characterrisitics with Mogou Qijia态 He Tao zhuang group in Gan Su and Qin Hai province, and also similar with Feng Xiang sunjia, Bao Ji Jianhe group, the Guanzhong region in Shannxi province. In hence, this research considers that, Mao jia ping ancient residents have inherited the physical characteristics from the GanQin local residents of the Neolithic age, strongly influenced by the people from the east of China, at the same time, also have a great influence on the Guanzhong region residents. The study of the ancient residents has enriched the connotation of archaeology of Mao jia ping site, provided some new materials for the research of species and source of Qin people, improved the understanding of the Qin culture, meanwhile, it also accumulated an ancient residents researching materials for the studying of southern Gan Su Physical anthropology.
