In recent years, People pay more attention to the ecological environmentand health consciousness and put much more effect to ecological protection andenvironmental pollution. However the pesticide pollution is the major pollutionproblem. But due to due to dust, solvent and other environmental pollutionproblems bring health problem. Traditional pesticide formulations, such as dust, ECand others formulation are decreasing gradually in the market. In such circumstances,water dispersible granules (WDG) which have characteristics of aqueous, no dust,high effective content become gradually into peoples vision. Wetting agent as themain additive also gets more attention. But because of technology, price, and patentprotection are limited. People still use the traditional wetting agent, such as sodiumlauryl sulfate, nekal, etc. Therefore, it is important to develop a new and efficientWDG wetting agent.In this paper, two types of compounds(eight surfactants)—fat acrylhydroxyethyl sulfonate (CS series) and sodium sulfonate acetic acid fat ester (CAseries) are synthesized. We discuss the relationship between the hydrophobic chainlength and surface properties such as surface tension, critical micelle concentration(CMC), wetting force, contact angle and HLB. And the ester bond position effect onthe two types of compound. Finally, we applied them in the triazine herbicide WDGas wetting agents to determine their wetting ability.The results show that the reaction temperature becomes higher to CSseries with increasing hydrophobic chain length. While product conversion becomelower to CA series with increasing the hydrophobic chain length. The surface tension,CMC value and HLB decrease gradually and wetting force, spreading ability increase gradually with increasing chain length. In addition, application results show that ourproducts have better effect compare to commercial1004in terms of suspensibility,wetting time and foamability, etc.
