The study overview the development of furfural hydrogenation2-MF andfurfural alcohol. The catalysts of furfural hydrogenation are divided into the kinds asfollows: cupric chromate catalyst, metal oxide catalyst, alloys catalyst, load catalyst.The catalysts above have many weaknesses, or the activity of catalyst is low, or theselectivity of catalyst is low, or the lifetime of catalyst is low, or having the harmfulmaterial Cr+6to the environment.The study first put forward that adopting single stage process makes a newkind, a nonpoisonous Cu/γ-Al2O3composition catalyst. The catalyst has high activityto furfural gas phase hydrogenation2-MF and furfural alcohol, it can use to make2-MF and furfural alcohol. Now we know that the main composition of the catalyst islive material Cu and the carrier γ-Al2O3, the contain of the Cu is20.5%, the firingtemperature of catalyst is623K, the reducing condition of catalyst is: Thetemperature keeps at493K~513K, the activate time is6hours. The new kind catalysthas characteristics as follows: the preparation technique is easy, the adion do nothave toxicity, do not have influence to the environment, the catalytic ability is strong,conversion rate is high, selectivity is good, lift time is long, and do not need to changethe catalyst multifarious.The study research the craft term of furfural gas phase hydrogenation2-MF,review the influence of temperature, the mol rate of H2/furfural, the catalyst carrier,furfural airspeed to the2-MF yield. We certain the best craft term. Under the term oftemperature is235℃, reacting pressure is normal pressure, the airspeed is0.32hr-1,H2/furfural is10:1, the conversion rate of furfural gas phase hydrogenation2-MF canattain99%above, the selective can attain97%above, and the yield can attain96%above.Under the same terms of experiment equips and the catalyst, review theinfluence of temperature, the mol rate of H2/furfural, the catalyst carrier, furfuralairspeed to the furfural alcohol yield. We certain the best craft term. Under the term of temperature is140℃, reacting pressure is normal pressure, the airspeed is0.48hr-1, H2/furfural is3:1, the conversion rate and the selective and the yield of furfuralgas phase hydrogenation furfural alcohol can all attain99%above.The study discuss the founded of the thermal analysis and dynamicsmodel for furfural gas phase hydrogenation2-MF, after thermal calculation, the heateffect of this reaction (ΔrHm) is less than zero, so it is the exothermic reaction, if wedrop temperature, the K°will accrete, the balance will move to the product, sodropping the temperature will have a advantage to the conversion rate of experiment.BecauseΔrGm=-193.998KJ.mol-1, ΔrGm is far away less than the zero. So the K°is avery big numerical value, it is can indicate the reaction can carry out down to thewire if the reaction can reach to the balance. After dynamics calculation, we can gainthe activation energy (Ea) of this reaction is158.22KJ/mol, the reaction order offurfural is1.2, the reaction order of H2is1.65, the rate constant of this reaction is1.96.
