Because of the special characteristics of structure and performance, ball screw has been widely used in a variety of precision machinery, especially in the feeding system of NC machine tools. With the development of high-speed cutting, the influence to the positioning accuracy of NC machine tool’s feeding system is becoming more and more important by the axial static stiffness of ball screw. In this chapter, the theory and test device of the axial static stiffness of ball screw were studied, and the influence factors were analyzed in order to provide the basic parameters for the high stiffness design.According to tension and compression component theory, thick-walled cylinder theory and Hertzian contact theory, a more comprehensive theoretical modeling and analysis of ball screw’s axial static stiffness were studied and the formulas were deduced. The above theoretical analysis was proved correct by the simulation analysis of simplified model of ball screw’s axial static stiffness. On the basis of theoretical research, the influence factors were analyzed.A test device of ball screw’s axial static stiffness was developed. First of all, the loading program was designed. Secondly two different kinds of horizontal and vertical solutions on the design of test device were proposed, on this base the vertical solution was chosen to be the final solution and was Optimized designed. Then the sensors were selected and the measure program was proposed by analysising the requirements of sensors. Lastly the load control and signal acquisition circuits were designed to complete the build of hardware circuits.The test program of ball screw’s axial static stiffness was Detailed designed, including the test purpose, sample pretreatment, test preparation, steps and data processing. Thus a more perfct test program of ball screw’s axial static stiffness was formed preliminary.
