With the development of automatic control, power system, materials industry and so on, the research of automatic control system, inspection technology for transformer’s status, materials’ insulation properties has become a issue. Frequency response analysis (FRA) has a key position in these studies. It can be more convenient to analyze the sports properties of the system, to tell whether a transformer winding deformed and to analyze the electrolyte response of insulating material according to the frequency response. However, current FRA systems rely on their own separate hardware platforms, and their hardware structures are very complex, resulting in very high implementation cost for them. FRA system based on oscilloscope with built-in signal sources can solve this problem very well. Because it utilizes the existing hardware resources for cost saving and don’t affect the oscilloscope’s function. The following work is completed:(1) Combined with practical application, put forward a design method for FRA system based on oscilloscope with built-in signal sources through the research and analysis for traditional FRA system, and establish a system model;(2) Design a sample algorithm to acquire the input and output signals of system, and a vector calculating algorithm to calculate the frequency response characteristics with the data sampled;(3) Implement the design of FRA system by adding software module, and then test system accuracy, measurement efficiency and measurement bandwidth.Experimental results prove that the FRA system based on oscilloscope with built-in signal sources has high accuracy and measurement efficiency as well as a wide measurement bandwidth. Besides, this FRA system has a wide range of measurement functions, such as dot-frequency, linear sweep and logarithmic sweep. Therefore, the research for FRA system based on oscilloscope with built-in signal sources has important practical value as well as a broad application prospect.
