Because of the surrounded chloride environment, the durability of marine concrete isalways the attention of researchers at home and abroad. According to the previous research, this paper summarizes all kinds of transport mechanisms. Through comparing andanalyzing the analytical model, numerical model and various kinds of numerical methods, the paper determines to study the transporting matters of chloride with simplified modelon the basis of the second Fick’s law, and proposes Finite Volume Method (FVM) which isoften used in hydromechanics to solve the chloride diffusion. It is important to highlightthat FVM changes the way of solving chloride diffusion from the mathematics angle alone, and calculates the numerical solution of chloride diffusion again from the angle ofphysical significance and conservation laws. Therefore, the transport progress of chloridein concrete becomes clearer. The main work of this paper is as follows:(1) Deducing the chloride diffusion expressions of one-dimensional, two-dimensionaland circular cross section by FVM, and testing the accuracy and reliability of theexpressions. By using Matlab to Program, the paper discusses some problems in chloridediffusion with the expressions obtained above.(2) Combining FVM with Monte Carlo Method which is often used in durabilityreliability analysis, the paper proposes FVM numerical analysis based on Monte Carlosimulation for durability reliability of marine concrete structures (FVM-MC). Comparingwith analytical method based First Order Second Moment (FOSM), the accuracy ofFVM-MC is proved.(3) The paper discusses the factors in practical engineering that affecting the chloridediffusion in concrete in detail, which includes the geometric effect of cross section, exposure environment, component materials of concrete, size effect of cross section andedge effect and so on. In addition, the influence of these factors on the distribution ofchloride content and durability reliability is also discussed.
