As an advanced technology of information acquisition and processing, wireless sensor networks (WSN) preliminary already have certain base, which refers to the research and development of related technology and relevant technical standards, and its application of relevant industry, agriculture, national defense, medical, commercial, public management and other areas.Constructing the leading level smart grid is the development direction of Chinese power grid. First of all, implementation of the smart grid depends on on-line monitoring and real-time information about important operation parameter control, which run through every links of power grid, e.g. generation, transmission, substation, distribution, electricity and communication. As intelligent information terminal, WSN may be an important technical means to promote the development of smart grid.The researched WSN in this thesis, data are collected by many types of wireless sensor, such as wireless temperature and humidity sensor, temperature sensor, lightning arrester leakage current sensor. Those various sensors transmit data to the base station by the2.4G wireless network. The base stations and the control system are linked by the485bus. This specific WSN was used for on-line monitoring and analysis temperature and humidity for high voltage switch cabinet, on-line monitoring running temperature of equipment, and on-line monitoring and analysis the leakage current of lightning arrester.According to the use requirements of intelligent substation, the developed typical wireless sensors have been tested. For wireless temperature and humidity sensor, the below tests has been made, radiated disturbance measurements, RF electromagnetic field test, power frequency magnetic field test, damped oscillatory magnetic field test. The wireless temperature sensor is analyzed, and have been tested below items, the function of measuring, the measurement accuracy of the inspection, low temperature test, high temperature, radiated electromagnetic interference. For the wireless leakage current sensor for arrester, many test have been made also, the function of measuring test, radiated disturbance measurements test, electrostatic discharge test, radiated immunity test, RF electromagnetic field immunity test, power frequency magnetic field test, pulsed magnetic field test, and damped oscillatory magnetic field test.
