In this paper, a new model of cluster APDS launched by electromagnetic rail gun was designed to be used in aerial defense and antimissile system. The new cluster structure is helpful to improve the hit probability by launching three-core a time.Launching strength in the rail, the flow field characteristics out of the rail and end effect of the core is three major aspects of the cluster structure to analyze in this paper. The research focus mainly in the following areas:(1)The overall design of the cluster structure was determined, such as the projectile material, three-core overall arrangement and front cavity design.(2) The kinetic parameter formula of the cluster structure in the rail can be got by electromagnetic theory analysis. And then the tooth strength was numerically simulated by the software of LS-DYNA. The maximum stress of the dangerous tooth surfaces and the difference in the stress level of every tooth after using the clearance meshing technique can be decreased effectively and emission strength is improved.(3) The flow field distribution of projectile in different velocity was analyzed by FLUENT software, and the flow field regularity of distribution and the stress distribution of front cavity was got. And then optimize the front cavity of sabots to reduce the impact of stress concentration.(4) The projectile penetration ability is analyzed. Numerical simulations were carried out to study the problem of tungsten alloy core penetrating into semi-infinite steel target with high velocity from1600to2400m/s, and verify that the core can penetrate the armor used by fuselage bottom of AH-64Apache helicopter gunships.
