Due to the complexity and diversity of working situation and the instability and difficulty of information transmission that are the huge resistances in its development process, the remote hydrological monitoring system is generally regarded as one of the Cutting-edge problems in hydraulic engineering field. Therefore, it is a flourishing technology and industry having limitless prospects. Traditional hydrological monitoring uses the method of artificial measurement, which has a lower accuracy, larger amount of work, and more restrictions. This paper chiefly focus on the monitoring and analysis about the hydrological information of small to medium-sized rivers and puts forward a hydrological monitoring network whose core is the remote hydrological monitoring module and basis is the wireless sensor node. Combined with technology of Beidou satellite communication, it can remotely monitor the monitored area in real time. Moreover, through analyzing and processing the data, application solutions or instructive countermeasures that aim at the monitoring and early warning of remote hydrological information can be realized.Combining Beidou satellite communication technology with modern information technology and based on the dispersive characteristic of data acquisition node, the paper proposes a new design about remote hydrological monitoring system. The design makes the remote transmission of hydrological data become more convenient and saves the operating costs. Besides, it greatly improves the timeliness and monitoring accuracy of hydrological information monitoring system, reduces the intensity and expenditure of artificial observation, and realizes the functions about hydrological information’s acquisition, local storage, transmission, remote control, etc. Therefore, this design enhances the scientificity, accuracy, and the overall operating efficiency of water conservancy department, which means a lot to the prevention of disasters. The remote hydrological monitoring system mainly consists of three parts, remote monitoring terminal, Beidou satellite communication system, and the remote control module. The remote monitoring terminal whose core part is the master control chip is composed of wireless sensor, hydrological measurement circuit, temperature and humidity detection circuit, rainfall detection circuit, liquid crystal display circuit, remote communication interface auxiliary circuit, etc. This remote monitoring terminal can use the the master control chip to measure these physical variables, such as water level, environmental temperature, humidity, rainfall, quantity of flow, etc, and then convert them into electrical signals. The specific values of these variables can be calculated by master control chip and then displayed by LCD. Additionally, in order to meet the needs of practical control, this terminal can be connected with the wireless communication module via serial port to send hydrologic information to remote operation module by short message, which can realize the communication with Beidou communicating command or PC. Remote control module that is made up of Beidou access machine, monitoring terminal, and upper computer, is principally used for accessing and processing the field data, and the accession about data employs serial interface mode. The management of monitoring center can check the current operating parameters and command data. With looking forward to the future, using remote hydrological monitoring system as a new tool will be of great development space in the aspect of hydrological test, and it will move towards high intelligence and precision to meet the growing social needs.
