In2010, China hosted the first Formula SAE (referred FSAE racing).From then on, racing come into the campus. With the technology of the car’s design, and other aspects of the operation become more mature, people began to pay more attention to the feelings of racers during the race, so the car’s safety, ride comfort and handling stability becomes particularly important. The suspension on the racing as a major structural component for buffing force, its structure parameters and performance will directly affect the car’s ride and handling stability. So, we need to optimization of the suspension structure and related parameters before studying the ride of the racing. In this paper, we·simulated and optimized the FSAE racing’s rear suspension and made a brief evaluation for Vehicle ride comfort on the basis of "China Formula SAE Rules".After establishing the rear suspension model and the vehicle model in ADAMS, we carried wheel travel simulation on rear suspension, and got the curve of the wheel alignment parameters and the main parameters of the suspension. And then, use rear wheel alignment parameters as the optimization target, The hinge point of upper and lower arm to the frame as design variables, to carry on rear suspension optimization simulation. Modifying and adjusting some kinds of hard points. The performance of the optimized suspension has been greatly improvedThe performance of the rear suspension has been optimized, then using ADAMS/CAR ride to carry out on fundamental analysis of the vehicle ride comfort. Including sine sweep excitation, simulation analysis on random uneven road when the racing at different speeds as well as simulation analysis on the racing when it passes over a single bump. through the simulation analysis curve, the evaluation concluded that the ride reasonably designed FSAE car. drawing a conclusion that the ride comfort of the designed FSAE racing is reasonable.In short, the use of computer simulation software to optimize the racing, not only can improve vehicle performance, but also can greatly reduce the manufacturing cost. Also avoids many turnovers.
