The ingredients of Si mo tang oral liquid were originally recorded in the2nd volume of "Syndrome due to Pulse". It has the ability to regulate qi, and reverse rebellious qi activities. It consists of four medicinal herbs:Radix Aucklandiae, Fructus Aurantii, Radix Linderae and Areca which are orally taken after grinding. After long term clinical applications, its effects have already been validated with reliable and solid theoretical and practical basis.Based on the four constitutes of Si Mo Tang, Hunan Hanson Pharmaceutical Co.Ltd has developed the oral liquid for gastrointestinal dysfunction, with the approved no. Z20025044. This oral liquid has the ability to regulate qi, and reverse rebellious qi activities, and relieve masses and kill the pain. Clinically, it is used for retention of food, abdominal distention and pain, crying and worry, anorexia, diarrhea, constipation for baby and the old. It is also used for promoting the function of stomach and intestine. Now it is recorded in collection of national Chinese patent medicine standard-internal medicine, spleen and stomach volume.This product has more than10years of history of clinical usage. However, its pharmaceutical ingredients or its target sites are not fully understood till now. Therefore, a chromatogram chart has been established based on the Si Mo Tang oral liquid, which may help to increase the ingredients, and provide important and practical information for the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. In this research, we used the water extract of four single ingredients in Si Mo Tang oral liquid as the reference, and compared the shared peak of HPLC chart, and indentified and clustered each peak, and established the HPLC chart of water extract in Si Mo Tang oral liquid. We validated the origin of main ingredient of Si Mo Tang oral liquid, and improved the quality control system of Si Mo Tang oral liquid.
