Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of integrated Chinese-westerntherapy for cough variant asthma.Search strategy:To search CNKI,VIP and Wanfang data base from the databasebuilded to2012-12-31.Inclusion criteria:To collect the randomized controlled trials which comparedintegrated Chinese-western therapy of cough variant asthma with pure westernmedicine treatment.Data extraction and analysis: Data were extracted independently by tworeviewers, and by using the modified Jadad score standard to evaluate the qualityof the included literatures. The meta-analysis was performed by RevMan5.1,atfirst,testing the heterogeneity of the related studies, and according to resultof heterogeneity test to select the corresponding effect model. The end effectindex was showed by odds ratio(OR) or mean difference(MD) within95%confidenceinterval(CI).Results:In the end,a total of54articles were included,and4487cough variantasthma patients were involved. The quality of all included studies was low.Interms of the total effective rate:the result of comparing integratedChinese-western therapy with pure western medicine treatment for CVA was(OR:4.74,95%CI:3.84,5.85),so the treatment group’s total effective rate wasbetter than control group, and the difference had statistical significance.Interms of recurrence rate:the result of comparing integrated Chinese-westerntherapy with pure western medicine treatment for CVA was (OR:0.25,95%CI:0.18,0.34),so the recurrence rate of treatment group was lower than controlgroup, and the difference had statistical significance. In terms of clinicalresponse duration:the result of comparing integrated Chinese-western therapywith pure western medicine treatment for CVA was (OR:-2.89,95%CI:-3.28,-2.50),so the clinical response duration of treatment group was lower than controlgroup, and the difference had statistical significance. The detection of pulmonary function index:the treatment group had a better response on improvingFEV1、FEV1/FVC、PEF%&PEFRV,and the results were demonstrated as follows:(MD:0.33,95%CI:0.30,0.37)、(MD:5.62,95%CI:4.60,6.63)、(MD:3.33,95%CI:1.47,5.19)&(MD:-1.57,95%CI:-2.19,-0.94),and the above differences had statisticalsignificance. The result of comparing integrated Chinese-western therapy withpure western medicine treatment in control of CVA’s clinical symptoms and signsintegral was (MD:-0.65,95%CI:-0.70,-0.60),so treatment group’s integral waslower than control group, and the difference had statistical significance.Thedrug reaction of Chinese-western therapy group was less than pure westernmedicine treatment group. Conclusion:The integrated Chinese-western therapy for cough variant asthma canraise effective rate, reduce recurrence rate, shorten clinical response duration, improve lung function index (FEV1、FEV1/FVC、PEF%&PEFRV),control clinicalsymptoms and signs score, decrease drug reaction. But because of the lower qualityof the included studies in the review,so it is necessary to perform more highquality、large sample、double blind&multi-center randomized controlled trialsto make the conclusion more reliable.
