Due to the development and changes in the aspects of economy,society and culture ofour nation in recent years, a large number of idle assets enter into art market, whichaccelerate the flourishing process of it. With China’s entry into World TradeOrganization and the opening up of its market, the national economic strength isenhanced and the market space is expanded continuously, the domestic environmentof politics an society is stable and harmonious, the demand of spiritual civilization isgrowing and the income level of people is constantly improving. All these socialfactors are leading to the unprecedented rapid development of Chinese art market.In recent years, the trading price of domestic art auction constantly exceeds thehighest point—100million. In2010, the turnover of Chinese art auction marketexceeds that of Britain and the United States. The whole world is shocked by the fastdevelopment of Chinese art market. As the important parts of today’s art market, thereis an imbalanced development among galleries, auction houses and art fairs. Auctionhouses cover the most of market share and occupy the position of galleries whooriginally should be primary market in art industry. Art fairs are making efforts tostabilize their position in the industry by assembling the galleries. However, in thisthriving market, people are never bored with playing the number games and fiddlingwith a wide range of chats and curves, in which the aesthetic value of art is replacedby chasing the price of it, the unique consumption of art is subordinated to the generalcommodity consumption.People take the economic gains as their ultimate goal of art investment. Artists, critics,investors and brokers enjoy the returns brought by the creation of art works, art tradeand art criticism without being aware of they have gradually stepped into the trap ofmoney. Artists are going far away from their pure artistic integrity, critics and brokersreduce their professional ethical level, investors do whatever to win profit, which allleads to the deviation of art consumption and aesthetic appreciation. The artists’creation and critics’ criticism lack of originality and independence by the temptationof capital. In face of the irrational market which is out of order, people needself-redemption and to contribute their own efforts to improve the art market.This paper is divided into four chapters to make analysis and research on art market,On the basis of the analysis about current situation of art market, the author aims toprobe into the aesthetic psychology and activity of people in the art market andexplore a feasible way for the sustainable and healthy development of art market fromaesthetic perspective.
