Saifu and Mailisi are famous Mongolian film directors. Since the1990s,they put their national emotions into art. Through the magnificent expressionand vivid delivery of the camera, they show the Mongolian unique life styleand culture, create a plenty of outstanding Mongolian Movies, and form akind of unique artistic style. Especially, Saifu and Mailisi initiated a new typeof action film and filled a vacancy of domestic film, which is called theaction movie on the horseback.The thesis analyzes Saifu and Mailisi’film-making on national theme,which is not only a review on the film evaluation,but also an exploration ofChinese film nationalization. First of all, part one analyzes five nationaltheme films taken by Saifu and Mailisi in the1990s, summarizes the uniquevisual style of works. Secondly, part two shows the discussion about filmnationalization in domestic film industry since the1990s, and introduces inbriefly the efforts of two excellent directors in developing film nationalization from three aspects. The causes on their achievements includechanging the original concept of the film-making, understanding in deeplyabout Chinese national culture, and breakthrough in the type of movie.Finally, based on the studying of Saifu and Mailisi’ works, part three pointsout the lacks in creation, and looks for the better method on the developmentof Chinese film nationalization in the future.Absorbing the nourishment of the national culture and retaining thedistinct characteristics of the minority are important and necessary. Thestudying on Saifu and Mailisi’ national theme works is inspiration andreference to Chinese film nationalization, and will take great effects in furtherdomestic film development.
