This paper, divided into four chapters, mainly discussed the basic properties andmanifestations of the general nouns to be adverbials; The semantic features and theexpression of functional; The source of formation and the trends of development;The motivation of collocation and the mechanism of evolution in modern Chinese; Aswell as the development trend of the syntax phenomenon——the process andmechanism of adverbs of noun. Except the introduction and the conclusion, the totalpaper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter, firstly defined the basic properties of noun which could beadverbial, and then add up the numbers of noun which could be adverbial accordingto the dictionary. After that, we defined the noun that could be adverbial and theambiguity Word of noun and adverb according to their frequency of use and tend ofdevelopment. At last, we studied the forms of noun that could be adverbials formtheir number, structure, syllables and syntax.On the base of the classification standard people did before, the second chapterclassfy the semantic features of noun to be adverbial into ten types: Tool andManner1(With things Manner); Mode and Manner2(Doing things Manner); Spacewith Time; Metaphor and Metonymy. The frist group discussed function expansionfrom Tool to Manner1; The second group discussed the difference betweensubjectivity and objectivity expression, and also discussed the level difference ofexpression; The third group discussed the performance of adverbs of noun fromSpace to Time; The last group discussed how two cognitive style——Metaphor andMetonymy affect noun to be adverbial.The third chapter, firstly studied the source of nouns as adverbial, then arguedthe Legacy of syntactic form and the effection from the ancient Chinese, as well asthe impact of the Indo-European. Otherwise theoretically denied the theory ofpreposition omitted. And then we studied the evolutionary trends of nouns asadverbial, which is the process of nouns to be adverbials. According to theclassification of semantic features in the second chapter, we selected several typical nouns-adverb category words, and studied their process of adverbs of nouns inancient Chinese.The fourth chapter, firstly explained motivation and mechanism of noun asadverbial according to the modified of referential or nonregerential noun andaffinities or competition of Linguistic. Then we discussed mechanism of noun asadverbial——the conversion of semantic and adverbial of syntactic. The conversionof semantic was mainly due to the strong traits of semantics, offset of semantic,highlights of morphemes and subjectification of semantics. Aadverbial of syntacticreflected in the clarity of the sentence-bit high-frequency and the effection ofsyntactic positions.
