Jamal a1-Din a1-Afghani is the Islamic world famous thinker, religiousreformers and revolutionaries in the nineteenth century. Modern Western powersinvasion of Islamic countries, traditional Islamic society was facing an unprecedentedcrisis, which caused a large number of people of insight thinking. They found a wayout the future of Islam, thus giving rise to the modern social thought and socialmovements in the Islamic world. As the representative of some people advocatereform of Islam, Afghani was in response to the challenge of the West. Afghanidevoted his life to the liberation struggle of the Muslim nation, running in variousIslamic countries, but also through the creation of newspapers published articles topromote their ideas. He opposed the beaten track, but also opposed to blindly followthe example of Western modernization, emphasizing more practical in the real worldwith values to guide the life and religious reform, Islam adapted to the moderndevelopment.As a Western color thinker, Afghani was not limited to the Pan-Islamism, but inaccordance with the requirements of the social reality, the Islamic modernist theory.Afghani was famous because of its pan-Islamism, but the idea because of Islamicmodernism and profound, resulted a greater impact. Afghani to resist foreignaggression, the premise is to build a powerful Islamic country through reform Islam.Afghani thought about Islamic reform advocates, these claims to determine hisposition in the Islamic modernism, guidelines later modernist ideological direction ofdevelopment.Pan-Islamism to Islamic modernism, Afghani Reformation ideologicalcontent-rich, but the religious reform thought was always permeated with a deepbackground: Islamic countries was facing the Western colonial aggression, decadentfeudal system, people in misery; always seeking an answer: how to interprettraditional Islam, and how to deal with the challenges of modern Western.The Afghani’s Religious Reform thought had a huge impact on the Islamic society,it has important practical significance until now, in recent years, Afghani widespreadconcern by the people of the world. Afghani was as an example of dedication for theMuslims to get rid of colonial rule, the modern Muslim choose him as the hero.Through the study of the life and work of the Afghani, the author attempted to explainthe important influence of the religious reform-minded and analysis of the ReligiousReform and Pan-Islamism and Islamic modernism intrinsically linked.
