Since the date of the birth of photography in1839,it has demonstrated strongvitality.The vitality source from it could record reality more accurately andcompletely.Chinese documentary photography sprouted in late19th century,explored and developed in the beginning and medium-term of20thcentury,appeared in1980s,and formed a documentary upsurge in1990s,thencontinues to this age. Documentary photography is an essential important part inkinds of photography.It not only focus on the ideological content but also externalformal beauty.It profound relate the development of human, social, historical andcultural.At the same time it has social significance, cultural significance, moral valuesand recognizement significance,and the aesthetic connotation of Chinesedocumentary photography even has more profound research value.Hou Dengke spent his life on the theme of farmers,and known as “the namewhich can not be bypassed in the history of contemporary documentaryphotography”. Lu Nan is the only photographers of the Magnum photo agencycoming from mainland China,and known as “one of the most famous photographersin today’s China”. Both of them are the benchmark figure of contemporarydocumentary photography.But one is representative figure,the other is typical figureof the Chinese documentary photography. Therefore, the main line of this article isdepending on their works.The text is contains three parts: the development contextof the China of documentary photography,the analysis of ocumentary photographyworks by Hou Dengke and Lu Nan, the analysis of aesthetic characteristics of theChina documentary photography.In the course of the study, this article uses the works of two photographers,andtakes the aesthetic form, aesthetic content, aesthetic sense of the works by Hou andLu as a starting pointto analysis the difference and same place layer-by-layer. At thesame time,the article bases on the common of their works’artistic style and aestheticcharacteristic,extending others Chinese documentary photographers’work contentand features. Then,the article refines "Chinese-style" native complex in Chinese documentary photography,,caring and reflective with reproductive content as theaesthetic characteristic of Chinese documentary photography.
