Jiangnan Zhuzhici Research

The Zhuzhici, an ancient poetry genre originated from folk songs in Bayudisctrict, was played with music and dancing. In middle Tang Dynasty, poetsrepresentative by Liu Yuxi wrote poem in Zhuzhici genre and this started the PoetZhuzhici time which lasted hundreds of years. In which, a large number of Zhuzhicipoem emerged. Regardless of the Zhuzhici poems which hadn’t been published,China Zhuzhici Full Compilation had already collected a total amount of70thousandZhuzhici poems, which exceeded the total collection of Full Tang.Among all the areaswhere Zhuzhici poems existed, Jiangnan was the one holding the largest Zhuzhicipoems. China Zhuzhici Full Compilation alone, had embodied over30thousandZhuzhici poems, accounting for50%of the whole book works.The study object of this thesis is the Zhuzhici poems in the Song Dynasty tothe late Qing Dynasty. I hope to take an overall grasp of Zhuzhici in Jiangnan throughdiscussion on its geographical characteristics and evolution course, and lay a solidfoundation for comprehensive study of it.The introduction reviews the former research findings on Zhuzhici inJiangnan, the research methods, priorities and meaning.The first part mainly reveals the relationship between Zhuzhici andtraditional poetics from all the Zhuzhici materials in Jiangnan, i.e. the tradition ofliterary composition in rhyme, chanting and so on.The second part focus on geographical characteristics in order to introduce“Wu Sheng”Zhuzhici in Jiangnan, reveals its localization and highlight the regionalcharacteristics.The third part reproduces the qualities in Jiangnan Zhuzhici formation withspecific works, shows the development of it with time clues, and discusses thetransformation of it from writing mentality and poetics concept.Appendix specializes on the status of Jiangnan Zhuzhici in order to arousethe attention of the publishing industry.The whole paper study all the aspects of Jiangnan Zhuzhici to make up for the inadequacies of the previous studies.
